Becoming an adjunct faculty member

Pima's adjunct (part-time) faculty members are part of the instructional team that enables the College to attain its mission of "developing our community through learning."

Applying for employment

  1. Job listings are posted on the Adjunct Faculty positions web site.  If you do not see your discipline listed, you may still apply.  Once you are certified and approved, your information will be added to our database of potential adjunct faculty.
  1. In order to teach at Pima, adjunct faculty must be certified in the field to be taught.  The current certification guidelines are available on the PCC web site.
  1. Next, you must first complete an Adjunct Faculty application form.  Links to foreign transcript evaluation services are also available online.

You will find an area on the application where you will need to list the discipline(s) that you would like to be considered for part-time teaching employment.  PCC teaching areas can be found in our current catalog or online on our Courses web page.  Employment consideration will only be offered in the areas you designate.
  1. If you feel you have the required certification qualifications, please return your application to one of the campus Human Resource Offices noted below, along with official transcript(s) in a sealed envelope, and/or current license and letters of experience in the field to be taught.

Certification & Approval Process
A Human Resource Specialist will review your application packet and a certificate may be awarded in the discipline(s) you are eligible to teach.  Your name will then be placed on the agenda of the next Board of Governor's meeting for their approval.

Once you have been certified and Board approved you will receive a Pima Community College Certificate in the mail and your name will be entered into our college wide applicant database.  It will then be available to Department Chairs and Deans of Instruction at all of the campuses.  This process may take up to 8 weeks.

Once you receive your certificate you may then contact the department chair(s) at the campus(s) of your choice.   Recommendations for teaching assignments are based on the information in the application plus any follow-up information acquired by the campus Department Chairs from correspondence, phone calls, and/or personal interviews.
